Tamara Stephenson's interior design
design aesthetic Tamara's design work is eclectic from a designing an apartment once a former watch factory at the turn of the century now turned loft-like Penthouse in a new condominium project in the sleepy seaside village of Sag Harbor to a pre-war family apartment on Park Avenue. She takes her training and design style and adapts it to fit her client's needs.
Tamara is an interior designer, freelance writer and product designer working and living in New York City. She and her family divide their time between the bustling city and their beach cottage in the quiet hamlet of Springs in East Hampton. The two different locations suit her personality well and have helped to fine tune her design aesthetic, which some have referred to as "sophisticated cottage.” Her interiors are a medley of modern furnishings, art and combined with antiques and vintage finds, they are well edited yet layered and reflect the client’s personality well since Tamara uses her astute observations to bring the finest combinations of wares to each project. Because her blog allows her to travel around the world from Milan's Salone Mobile to London's Decorex on a regular basis she keeps her finger on the pulse of cutting edge design. Additionally, her life-long passion for history, antiques and items showing a little patina equips her to bring in a lovely sense of sophistication to a client's home and combine that with her modern sensibility. With two college degrees —a baccalaureate degree in English from Castleton State College and a certificate in interior design from Parsons School of Design — and over twenty years experience in the design business, Tamara has honed her eclectic skills as a designer, host, writer and social media expert. In 2008, she began merging her former writing experiences with her design training by penning her popular lifestyle blog Nest by Tamara. In addition to running her design practice, she regularly contributes editorials on assignments for websites and print publications, including Dan’s Papers, Traditional Home, NYC&G and others. Additionally, Tamara has become adept as the consummate hostess, throwing both small and large parties in her home, as well as for public and private events. Her friends and readers marvel at her ability to create events with elegance yet with ease, and she is sought after to impart her wisdom and trained, cultivated eye to talk, showcase and write about interior design, cooking, entertaining and travel.
