Highlights of Thanksgiving in the Hamptons, the Annual East Hampton Historic House and Garden Tour

We Are Looking Forward To The
33rd East Hampton House & Garden Tour,
Which Rings In The 2017 Holiday Season
And, the celebration begins with Friday evening Cocktails at the Maidstone Club
for the Opening Night Cocktail Party!
I love the weekend after Thanksgiving each year, because we have the opportunity to walk off our big turkey dinner by meandering to some of the Hampton's finest and most historic homes in the annual East Hampton Historic House Tour.  From the Village to the Atlantic, this event  benefits the East Hampton Historical SocietyThis annual house and garden tour showcases the finest examples of historical and modern architecture in the Hamptons.  There are five houses on this year’s self-guided tour, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 25, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Visiting these homes offers a unique glimpse into the area's most storied residences, and I love it that there is an eclectic mix of architectural styles on the tour--from charming, classic shingled cottages, to European designs.

The celebration begins Friday evening with Opening Night Cocktails at the private, Maidstone Club (Friday November 24 from 6-8:30 pm).  This event commemorates the hard work and opportunity to view these homes the following day.  Please note the Maidstone Club is open only to Cocktail Party ticketholders only on Friday evening as it is a fund-raising event for the East Hampton Historical Society. Tickets for the Opening Event are $200 and includes entry to the Self-Guided House Tour the following day.  Tickets to the tour only are $65 in advance and $75 on the day of the tour. purchase tickets here

a glimpse of a few houses on the tour this year...

The Elizabethian-style Woodhouse Playhouse on Hunting Lane makes it on the tour this year.  Built by the legendary philanthropist and arts patron Mary Woodhouse, today the home still honors the original role as a year-round music and theater school.  It is important to note built by architect Francis Burrell Hoffman Jr. who worked hard to create the East Hampton Village as one of the country's premier summer colony.  Awe-inspiring 75-foot-Great Room, a 30-foot gabled peak and church-like nave, an Aeolian-Skinner organ and massive fireplace.  The residence has a long-history including attracting famous visitors  including John Drew, John Barrymore, Isadora Duncan, The Westminster Choir, and Metropolitan Opera greats.

A historic Shingle-Style Cottage overlooking the Atlantic
Located in the historic Kilkare within the coveted Georgica Association, this home overlooks Georgica Pond and the Atlantic. Built by shipbuilders in 1877, the restored beauty shows a plethora of authentic details.
Happy Nesting
